Purpose:(1)This study is supposed to use the Abbreviated Self-report Coping Scale(A-SRCS)redesigned to assess the coping styles of Chinese and American adolescents, and test the reliability and validity of scale.(2)The group's confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess the measurement equivalence of coping styles among Chinese and American adolescents.(3)According to the results of the equivalence test, compare the differences of coping styles among different cultural backgrounds;discuss the reasons for the differences and their educational enlightenment,in order to provide an empirical reference for the research on coping styles of adolescents and the mental health education of adolescents.Methods:(1)This study used the A-SRCS to conduct a questionnaire survey of 1184 middle school students in three middle schools in Hunan Province and 1049 middle school students in four middle schools in the United States.(2)Using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient to test the reliability of the scale, structural validity and confirmatory factor analysis are used to test the validity of the scale, and group confirmatory factor analysis is used to test the weakly equivalent, strong, and strictly equivalent with Abbreviated Self-Reported Coping scale among Chinese and American adolescents. On the basis of strong equivalence, the difference in the cross-cultural potential of each factor in the sample of adolescents is compared.(3)Descriptive statistics and related analysis of the two groups of Chinese and American samples, explore the cultural differences between Chinese and American coping styles and the educational implications brought to us.Results:(1)The statistical data of factor load, descriptive statistical results and total project relevance of A-SRCS in Chinese and American samples were in accordance with the research criteria, and the reliability and reliability of A-SRCS is well.(2)In the confirmatory model fitting of the two samples in China and the United States, the fitting indices CFI,TLI,RMSEA and SRMR all met the requirements of psychometrics, indicating that the Chinese and American samples have a good degree of fitting. Therefore, the simple response method of eleven items can be used as a baseline model for the subsequent measurement equivalence test.(3)Group confirmatory factor analysis shows that the A-SRCS scale has complete morphological equivalence and complete weak equivalence in the samples of Chinese andAmerican adolescents, but cannot meet the requirements of strong equivalence,so differences in mean cannot be compared.Conclusion:(1)The Abbreviated Self-Reported Coping Scale for children and adolescents satisfies the morphological equivalence model test and weak equivalence model test in Chinese and American samples.(2)The strong equivalence test is not supported at all,so the Abbreviated Self-Reported Coping scale is not equivalent to the Chinese and American adolescents, and the interpretation of the comparison results between groups in different cultural groups of adolescents should be cautious.
