Meta-cognitive monitoring ability is mainly manifested in the active planning,monitoring and regulation in biological scientific inquiry,so as to improve the efficiency of inquiry activities.The regulation of meta-cognition runs through the whole process of scientific inquiry and can promote biological scientific inquiry.As one of the core skills of scientific inquiry,making assumption involves information extraction,information processing,rigorous reasoning,bold imagination and other skills.The process of making assumptions requires meta-cognitive monitoring,which enables individuals to constantly review all aspects of skills and take measures to adjust and improve the assumption,and finally affects the specific content of the assumption.Therefore,assumption making contains the training material of meta-cognitive monitoring,which is a good platform for the cultivation of students' meta-cognitive monitoring ability.This paper systematically introduces the current domestic and foreign research results on meta-cognitive monitoring theory,discusses the relationship between meta-cognitive monitoring and making assumption skills,and designs the "meta-cognitive ability scale of making assumption".Based on the investigation of the current situation of meta-cognitive monitoring ability,we carry out teaching experiments on the cultivation of meta-cognitive monitoring ability based on making assumption skill training.The experimental results show that the meta-cognitive monitoring ability of students can be significantly improved by making assumptions and training students' meta-cognitive monitoring ability.This study aims to provide a new teaching approach for cultivating and improving students' meta-cognitive monitoring ability,and puts forward effective teaching suggestions for teachers.
