The present study aims to investigate the relationship between social development and family functioning of 4~6 years old children.1731 children aged 4~6years from Chengdu's twelve kindergartens are scored by the Family Assessment Device(FAD)and Social Developmental Scales for 4-7-year-old Children.Researcher discusses relationship between social development and family functioning of 4-6 years old by quantitatively and qualitatively analyzes.The main findings of this study are as follows:(1)Overall,the situation of 4~6years old children's social development is at a good level.Children of different genders,age,mother's education level,father's education level,family structure and kindergarten type have significant differences in scores of social development.(2)The operation of family functioning is in a good condition.Children of different genders,mother's education level,father's education level,family structure and kindergarten type have significant differences in scores of family functioning.(3)There is significant positive correlation between social development and family functioning.Children would have a better performance in social development if there is a better condition of family functioning.(4)Family functioning has a significant predicted effect on social development.This study enriches the research of social development,reveals the influence of family functioning on social development,and provides some reference for promoting the social development of children from different perspectives.
