Purpose: Competitive sports is a series of sports activities centered on athletes.Provincial athlete development research can reveal some phenomena, spatial characteristics and influencing factors of the development of competitive sports, and at the same time provide new ideas for the application of GIS in sports research. Methods: From the perspective of geography, according to the research logic of structure, characteristics and factors, the population-weighted coefficient of variation is used to measure regional differences. On the basis of the use of mathematical statistics to study the structure of grade athletes, through spatial autocorrelation and high/low poly Class, hot spot analysis and cluster anomaly analysis explore the spatial characteristics of the development of grade athletes, use exploratory regression analysis and ordinary least squares regression to study the influencing factors of regional competitive strength, comprehensively discuss and give suggestions. Results: The composition of the development of grade athletes in China is based on a pyramid model. The first and second grade athletes account for about 96.1% of the total development;the gender balance of the development of grade athletes in China is not good, the sex ratio of men and women is always higher than 168:100,and the provincial difference is large,;The weighted coefficient of variation of the total number of grade athletes in China fluctuates between 0.67 and 0.85,with no obvious trend of increase or decrease;the development of grade athletes in China is a clustering model, the development of first and second athletes has obvious agglomeration effects, and the development of first-level athletes Agglomeration is enhanced;the regional differences between athletes and international-level athletes are relatively large, and the agglomeration effect is weak;the spatial distribution of provincial athletic strength in China is more obvious, which is highly consistent with social and economic development;according to the results of exploratory regression analysis,Considering the spatial effect, the consumption level of residents, the development of level athletes, the development of the tertiary industry and the development of mass sports have a positive impact on the regional competitive strength. Conclusion: The energy efficiency of athletes' "recruitment, retention and excess" determines the rationality and competitive strength of regional grade athletes' development structure;China's grade athletes' development of gender balance is poor and the current situation of large provincial differences is that traditional gender concepts are not yet thorough The transition to modern times and the uneven social and economic development of the provinces;the regional resource advantage plays an important role in the level of competition, and there is a gathering pattern of excellent athletes;the inter-provincial driving and synergy is to reduce economic factors and effectively restrict the regional competitive strength Means; The dependence of regional competitive sports development on economic factors is weakened to varying degrees according to local conditions, and the promotion of inter-provincial competitive sports exchange is placed in the context of economic development as a regional collaborative orientation to enhance regional competitive strength and reduce regional differences For the purpose, more attention can be paid to the promotion of the development of competitive sports by external factors such as education, investment, and consumption.Compared with focusing only on economic stimulus and coordination and internal factors of competitive sports, more significant results can be achieved.
