The health and development of primary and middle school students affect the future of the nation.In recent decades,the age of sexual maturity of young people in our country has been continually advancing.Meanwhile,students' sexual concepts are gradually open,but the lack of sexual and reproductive health knowledge may put them facing multiple risks of sexually transmitted diseases and gender-based violence in the future.It is essential for school students to conduct sexual education through school curricula.This research uses text analysis and empirical research to explore the sexual education of middle school students.Firstly,a questionnaire survey of sexual knowledge,attitude,behavior and legality was carried out among 1800 middle school students in two schools in Kunming,to understand current situation and needs of sexual education for middle school students.Then,co-word clustering analysis was conducted in the literature on sexual education of adolescents during the 2009-2019 period from CNKI database.Through literature review,the research hotspots of sexual education of adolescents in China in the past decade were found out.Considering the results of the questionnaire survey and text analysis,a syllabus and lesson plans were designed to meet the actual needs of the school students,and sexual education courses were taught to 669 students in the primary and junior high school sections of the experimental school.A sexual education evaluation scale with better reliability and validity was used to evaluate the teaching effect of the sexual education courses.Through the co-word clustering analysis of students' sexual education research hotspots in the past ten years,the results showed that the total number of published articles was relatively small,and the increase in the number of published articles was slow,but the overall trend continued to increase.The research topics focused on "Health knowledge","Sexual behavior","Sexual ethics","Sexual cognition",etc.The research on comprehensive sexual education had been carried out relatively late and the number of publications was small.There was only one core author in this research area.The questionnaire survey of the junior and senior high school students in two middle schools in Kunming showed that there were gender differences in sources of sexual education.The primary source of sexual education for the boys was the Internet,while the primary source of sexual education for the girls was school teachers.Physiological knowledge was the main content of sexual education received by middle school students.Data showed that more than 90% of the girls had received sexual physical education.The middle school students' knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases increased with the increase of grades,but there was a difference between the two genders.The degree of acceptance of their own gender gradually decreased with age,and female middle school students were less likely to accept their gender than male students.Survey results also showed that most of the middle school students had a friendly and tolerant attitude to sexual minority students.Through statistical analysis of the pre-and post-test results,the following conclusions are obtained.Comprehensive sexual knowledge need to be transmitted at the proper time and to an appropriate degree in sexual education.Diversified teaching methods should be used to promote the development of the core quality of sexual education which attaches equal importance to knowledge and skills.The negative effects of gender stereotypes on students need to be eliminated in teaching.A familyschool-community trinity sexual education position should be constructed.Systemic sexual education courses will help primary and middle school students build positive attitudes.The syllabus,case study and evaluation of sexual education presented in this thesis can provide reference to future sexual education course design in primary and middle schools.
