Traditional science classes are faced with such dilemmas as "breaking away from the real world" and marginalization of science learning.Most problems in the real world are poorly structured and ill-defined,requiring interdisciplinary application of knowledge and creativity to solve the problem.At present,most of the learning tasks in science courses are lack of the solution on real problems,so teaching design and practice of authentic learning guided by real problem solving are very important for cultivating the skills that students of the 21 st century should have in the current educational environment.Therefore,this study attempts to carry out teaching design and practical research on authentic learning that promotes the improvement of problem solving ability,so as to provide ideas for teachers to improve students' problem solving ability in the actual teaching process.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Defining the concepts related to authentic learning and problem solving ability and proposing the contents of this study;(2)Based on the theory of authentic learning,analyzing the element structure of authentic environment proposed by Jan Herrington et al.;(3)Based on the adaptive design model of authentic learning proposed by Zhao Jian et al.,teaching case design was conducted for the chapter of particle model of matter in the Oxford Shanghai edition of Science textbook;(4)Carrying out teaching case study on students in grade 6 of a junior high school in Shanghai,and evaluating the learning effect of students from the perspective of problem solving;(5)The research results are analyzed in detail in the form of quantitative and qualitative analysis,including questionnaires,test scores and interviews with teachers on students' problem-solving ability.This paper draws the following conclusions based on the above research:(1)The teaching implementation of authentic learning based on problem solving can effectively improve students' problem-solving ability;(2)The teaching of authentic learning poses certain challenges to teachers' comprehensive quality.Finally,based on the shortcomings in teaching practice,this paper proposes some strategies and suggestions for improving the teaching design of authentic learning to promote the improvement of problem solving ability,in the hope of providing directions for the actual teaching of authentic learning and effectively improving the problem solving ability of students.
