Study On Guy Debord's Theory Of Spectacle Society

In the middle of the 20th century,based on the attention to the real status of human existence,the French philosopher Debord discovered a new form of capitalist social development with a unique perspective,and creatively pointed out that capitalist society has developed from the production stage to the spectacle stage.It has been alienated into a spectacle society dominated by vision.As an intermediary,the spectacle shields the relationship between people and unconsciously invades people's daily life and leisure time.The theory of spectacle society is Debord's realistic response to the changes of the consumer society in the new period,reflecting Debord's concern and analysis of social reality.The theory is not only the development of the critical theory of Marxist philosophy,but also the enlightenment of postmodern theory.This article focuses on the practical foundation and theoretical origin of spectacle social theory,the connotation and operating mechanism of spectacle,the strategy of jumping out of spectacle dilemma,and the theoretical status of spectacle social theory.The first part mainly explains that the spectacle society proposed by Debord is an inevitable stage required for the development of capitalist society,and its production has inevitable social support.Feuerbach's and Marx's alienation theory and Lefebvre's criticism of daily life provide theoretical support for the formation of Debord's landscape social theory.The second part mainly discusses that the spectacle as a product of the current stage of capitalist society has become a new tool for capitalists.As an ideology,the spectacle realizes the separation of people in time,space,and culture.With the support of false needs,it has continuously formed a concentrated spectacle,a diffuse spectacle,and a comprehensive spectacle,and gradually achieved control of society.The third part mainlyexplains that under the influence of Lefebvre's critical theory of daily life,Debord further proposed to understand the real daily life through the art revolution,and use the three redemption methods of drift,alienation,and framing to eliminate the stubbornness of the spectacle.The fourth part mainly analyzes the inheritance and development of Marxist critical theory by spectacle society theory at the historical node of Western industrial society to consumer society,and the foundation and inspiration of Baudrillard and Kellner's postmodernism theory.In general,an in-depth analysis of Debord 's spectacle social theory is an interpretation of history and reality,which helps to deepen our understanding of the status quo of social development and make appropriate adjustments from the level of social individuals according to its theoretical methods In order to achieve the purpose of regulating the dull daily life and releasing the stress of anxiety and tension,to a certain extent,it can get rid of the alienation control of the spectacle and return to the authenticity of people.On the other hand,we must see that Debord's own strategy for improving the state of human life in the theory of spectacle society focuses more on psychological activities,which is a complete denial of modern life.Because of the idealization of its methods,it cannot fundamentally solve the problem of human survival in real life.
