Scientific literacy is one of the core qualities that all students should have, and it is also an indispensable basic quality for citizens in the 21 st century. The Primary School Science Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Education formulated in 2017,proposed that the primary school science curriculum takes the cultivation of students' scientific literacy as the overall goal, attaches importance to the relevance of disciplines, and promotes interdisciplinary learning.STEM education integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics, connects many disciplines, and provides new teaching models and strategies for primary school science. At present, the research on science education and STEM education has become the focus of science education.Textbook is an important carrier of curriculum. In order to understand the situation of STEM education in primary school science curriculum in China, based on the perspective of STEM,this paper uses content analysis to analyze the newly revised science textbooks of primary school grade one and two.First of all,the study reviewed the research of domestic and foreign scholars on STEM education and science textbooks, established the analysis framework of primary school science textbooks and analyzed the reliability and validity. Then use this framework to make a comparative analysis of the primary school science textbooks of Educational Science textbook and Jiangsu Education textbook for Grade one and Grade two from the two aspects of knowledge and activities.Through comparative analysis,it is found that in terms of knowledge, the textbook of primary school science in Educational Science textbook and Jiangsu Education textbook highlights scientific knowledge, and the knowledge of technology, engineering and mathematics is unevenly distributed in each textbook;there are differences in the specific disciplines of S,T,E and M between the two editions;in terms of knowledge integration, the two editions attach importance to the integration of science and technology, mainly focusing on the integration of two categories of knowledge, while S,T,E and M are lack of cross-fusion.In the aspect of practical activities, the textbook of Educational Science textbook and Jiangsu Education textbook attach importance to "implementation plan" and "expression and communication",but there are not enough activities in the aspects of "asking questions" and "making assumptions",which is not conducive to cultivating students' ability of scientific inquiry in an all-round way. There is a difference in the degree of activity integration between the two editions, and the integration degree of the Jiangsu Education textbook is higher than that of the Educational Science textbook;the two editions attach importance to the creation of situation, the simulation situation is dominated by experimental situation, and the Jiangsu Education textbook pays more attention to the creation of real situation.Based on the results of the research, some inspirations are obtained of the revision of primary school science textbooks and teachers' teaching.Primary school science textbook compilation: Increase the content of science history and cultivate scientific literacy;Enrich technology and engineering knowledge by combining Chinese characteristics in the new era;Understand the instrumental nature of mathematics and promote the two-way development of science and mathematics;Explore the relevance of disciplines and improve the integration of disciplines;Promote integration of activities around engineering practice;Improve the level of inquiry activities and promote the development of students' scientific inquiry ability;Improve the setting of the situation based on student life.Teachers' Teaching:Appropriate emphasis on technology, engineering andMathematics;Develop stem education specific activities;Perfect the way of student evaluation.
