STEM education, based on the concept of interdisciplinary integration, aims at solving practical problems in life with interdisciplinary thinking. It integrates science, technology, engineering and mathematics to provide strong support for the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents. Therefore, this paper draws lessons from the application of STEM education in science textbooks of foreign countries to provide reference for science education in primary schools in China. In this paper, from the STEM perspective, taking Singapore primary school science textbook My Pals are Here! Science as an example, basing on content analysis and referring to both ST?@M interdisciplinary teaching framework and Bloom ' s taxonomy of educational objectives, this paper analyzes the textbooks through quantitative analysis methods. The main results are as follows:In terms of STEM content arrangement, the statistical frequency of scientific content is the highest, accounting for more than half of the content of the textbook, which is in the guiding position.Specifically, life science accounts for a large proportion, which is the focus of primary school science instruction in Singapore. The energy and power fields and biotechnology and medicine fields in the technical part of the textbooks account for more than half, and focus on the introduction of technology. In the engineering part, the content of environmental engineering accounts for the highest proportion, highlighting the importance of environmental protection in primary education in Singapore. The mathematics part is the least. In terms of content breadth and depth, science content accounts for the largest proportion, which is distributed evenly in all grades of this set of textbooks. Most of the scientific content in the textbook is basic scientific knowledge,so it only requires students to memorize and understand.Technical content is a little more difficult,so it is more distributed in the upper grades than the lower grades. And most of the technical content in the textbook is closely combined with practice, requiring students to apply knowledge to practice. Therefore, the textbook requires students to understand and apply the technical content.Engineering content is the most difficult,so most of the engineering content is distributed in upper grades, and only requires students to understand engineering knowledge.Although mathematics content appears least in the textbook,it has the highest requirement for students, requiring students to achieve the level of application and analysis. In view of the above findings, this paper summarizes the characteristics of Singapore Science Textbook in content presentation. On the one hand,Singapore textbook is fully integrated with STEM knowledge. The textbook takes the internal integration of STEM knowledge as the core, and integrates science and technology, science and engineering, technology and engineering, etc.,which highlights the characteristics of interdisciplinary integration of STEM knowledge. The textbook is supplemented by the external integration of STEM knowledge, and integrates social reality and patriotic education into the textbook to further promote the integration of STEM education and practice. On the other hand, the textbook fully considers the characteristics of primary school students' learning and knowledge base, closely combines scientific knowledge with life scenes, takes problems as the guide, and presents them systematically and structurally in a way that is easy for pupils to understand and accept.
