4-6-years-old children numerical estimation is a common and useful skill.Foreign scholars did a lot of researches about children's numerical estimation while there are not so many people study it in China.When researchers do it in China,they always choose a broader age spectrum and set a large range of number.In this study,I will base on previous researches to discuss the development of children's numerical estimation.At the same time,I will further explore the intervention research on 4-6-years-old children's ability of numerical estimation skill.Through Individual Test,4-6-years-old children,which are selected from a kind ergarten in Shanghai,were asked to do a number line estimation task so that we can evaluate their ability of numerical estimation skill.With the number line task of0-20 and 0-100,we discuss children's accuracy of numerical estimation?the model they prefer and their mental distance when they estimated.Meanwhile we will try to figure out the correlation between number concept skill and number estimation.The conclusion of the study is made as follows:1.Larger the range of the number is,lower the accuracy will be when children estimate different range of number line.Children adjust themselves to get an exacter position for the number when they do the numerical estimation.Children are also influenced by the material presented and mental distance internal.And the boys' and the girls' numerical estimation ac-curacies were at the same level on both the0-20 and 0-100 number line tasks.2.The model of numerical estimation changes from Logarithmic Model to Linear Model.On the estimation of 0-20 anumber line,4-5-years-old children are inclined to the Logarithmic Model.While on the estimation of 0-100 anumber line,5-6-years-old children are inclined to the Linear Model.3.Even the range of number changed,4-6-years-old children estimate the low end number as a fixed-length.So that Mental Distance do exist.With the number going up,the Mental Distance condenses.4.The three types of numerical estimation training have no significant intervention effects on 4-5-years-old children.The number estimation training in all ranges has the most significant effect on children's number estimation ability on 5-6-years-old children.
