Study On The Ambiguous Structure Processing Of "V+N1+de+N2" In Intermediate And Advanced Chinese Learners In Southeast Asia

In this study,intermediate and advanced southeast Asian Chinese learner were selected as experimental subjects.We adopted the moving window technology through two experiments of auditory and visual.This paper investigates influence of prosodic boundary and continuation context on the understanding of ambiguity structure of “V + N1 +de+ N2”by Chinese learners and their mental representation of “V+N1+de+N2”ambiguity structure.The findings are as follows:(1)Context plays a major role in the understanding of ambiguous structure,and advanced Chinese learners can better use contextual information to understand sentence.The perception of the prosodic boundaries of intermediate and advanced Chinese learners is basically the same.The influence of the auditory prosodic boundaries is stronger than that of the visual prosodic boundaries.The auditory prosodic boundaries promote sentence processing in the early stage,and the visual prosodic boundaries play a role in the later stage of sentence analysis.We conclude that the reason for these results is that the development of prosodic perception and use abilities is slower and more implicit than the development of other language abilities,leading to the fact that the prosodic boundary of international students is still weak in the advanced stage.(2)It is difficult for intermediate and advanced Chinese learners in southeast Asia to analyze and understand the ambiguous structure of “V + N1 + de+ N2”.However,it is easier for them to understand the ambiguous structure “V+N1+ de+N2” according to Centering structure.Advanced level Chinese learners have a stronger mental representation of Centering structure than intermediate level Chinese learners.But they did not form the mental representation of verb-object structure.We explain the above conclusions from the perspective of the influence of Chinese level on the awareness of syntactic structure,as well as the contact frequency and processing advantages of the centering structure.
