At present,Chinese consumers are facing the escalation of food structure, and with the increasing income and awareness,Chinese consumers are concerned more about the diversification of imported foods. However, few studies are concerned about the diversification of imported products from demand-side,let alone the study concerned about the diversification of imported foods. Therefore,This paper focus on the determinants of the diversification of China's imported foods from the demand-side,studying how per capita income, income distribution and income distribution similarity affect the diversification of China's imported foods,in order to provide directions and targets for supply-side structural reform and provide suggestions for trade policies of imported foods. This paper calculates the aggregate and bilateral diversification of China's imported foods by extensive margin and counting, through vertical comparison and horizontal comparison analysis to show the current status of food diversification level in China. Then, this paper constructs the theoretical model of income and import diversification, puts forward two hypotheses about the impact of per capita income on the diversification of imported food, and uses fixed effects model and system GMM of dynamic panel model to test the two hypotheses.Based on the above, this paper extends the demand dimension from per capita income to the income distribution and similarity of the income distributions, makes theoretical reasoning about its impact mechanism on imports diversification, and uses fixed effects model and system GMM of dynamic panel model to estimate the impact of income distribution and similarity of the income distributions on the diversification of imported food.Based on the above research, the main conclusions are as follows:First,China's per capita income has a positive impact on the diversification of imported foods, and this effect is affected by the negative impact of the distance;Second,Income distribution is characterized by per capita income and income inequality, which can be reflected by the Gini coefficient. It is found that the per capita income has a positive effect on the diversification of imported foods in China, and the Gini coefficient mainly has a positive effect on the diversification of imported foods in China.Third, the income similarity has a positive impact on the diversification of imported foods in China. The greater the income similarity, the higher the diversification of China's imported foods.
