In 1930s,scholars recognized the important role of vocational interest in job performance.Later,Strong and Kuder constructed the earliest professional interest scales using empirical methods.Respectively,in 1950s,Holland proposed the hexagonal model of vocational interests, which has aroused a wide research in interests. The academic research and the practice research have explored the definition and effectiveness of vocational interests. The results of the researches suggested that vocational interests affect job performance because they may affect employee motivation and the acquisition and acquisition of relevant skills. However, the follow-up empirical studies and meta-analyses researches of vocational interests and job performance show that there is no significant correlation between the two. So,does vocational interest have influence on vocational performance? How does the vocational interest dimension affect job performance? How does the working environment dimension moderate the relationship between interest and job performance?Based on the above puzzles, this paper argues that the vocational interest theory suggests vocational interests can predict job performance, and the influence of vocational interest dimensions on job performance is inconsistent in different work environments. In this paper, the method of meta-analysis is used to quantitatively analyze the valid of articles containing related samples. The results of the paper support part of the proposed theoretical hypotheses.Specifically,(1)In the absence of working environments, interests and job performance are not relevant.(2)In the context of different working environments, the attention to details dimension positively moderates the relationship between the realistic interest, the conventional interest and performance, and the social competence dimension passive moderates the correlation between investigative interest and performance;the degree of competition is positively moderated to the relationship between enterprises interest and performance;the degree of competition negatively moderates the correlation between conventional interest and performance.
