The assumption of a single product of the heterogeneity trade model of traditional enterprises ignores the common fact of multi-products of international trading companies, and does not take into account the effect of product conversion in the import and export companies. The domestic value-added ratio of exports of enterprises measured by microscopic data can more accurately reflect the degree of participation in vertical division of labor and the real trade gains of enterprises in the international trade process. Therefore, the study of the mechanism and effect of the imported and exported products switching on the domestic value-added in exports will help to correctly assess the real profits of enterprises and provide scientific basis for the production and trade decision-making.Based on the matching data of China's industrial enterprises and customs trade database from 2000 to 2006,this paper estimates the domestic value-added rate of Chinese enterprises' exports, and discusses the impact on domestic value-added in exports from the perspective of the imported and exported products switching. This paper mainly elaborates the mechanism of the impact of imported and exported products switching on the domestic value-added in exports from the aspects of productivity, factor concentration, terms of trade, and trade structure, and adopts the Tobit model estimation method to empirically study th e impact of imported and exported products switching on domestic value-added in exports. On the one hand, the switching intensity of the enterprises' imported products has a significant role in promoting the domestic value-added in exports, while the expansion of the range of imported products has a deterrent effect on the increase of domestic value-added in exports. For enterprises of different trade types, different ownership systems, and different factor concentrations, the empirical results are relatively stable.A further examination of the impact mechanism shows that the switching of imported products of firms through the path of productivity, factor intensity, terms of trade, and trade structure significantly affects the domestic value-added in exports. On the other hand, the switching intensity of the exported products of enterprises also has a significant role in promoting the domestic value-added in exports, while the expansion of the scope of exported products has a depressing effect on the increase of domestic value-added in exports. For enterprises of different trade types, different ownership systems, and different factor concentrations in terms of empirical evidence, the empirical results are also robust.A further examination of the impact mechanism shows that the switching of firms' exported products does significantly affect the domestic value-added in exports through paths such as productivity, factor intensity, terms of trade, and trade structure.According to the conclusions of the research, this paper proposes corresponding policy recommendations.First of all, attention is paid to the importance of import, especially the import of intermediates, for industrial transformation, upgrading and economic development.Second,we should adopt a trade policy that favors the type of imports and exports.Third, focus on improving the innovation of Chinese manufacturing companies and accelerate the cultivation of core products with global competitiveness. Finally,we will strengthen our ability to inte grate global resources and increase the use of resources by enterprises.
