At present,China's economic development is in a stage of deepening supply-side structural reform and highlighting of new economic form,the economic development momentum is shift from traditional factor-driven and investment-driven to innovation-driven,and it also pay more attention to the importance of innovation factors in the space of economic activities.Furthermore,the free flow and efficient configuration of each kind of innovation elements having strengthened the inter-regional innovation linkage,and it appear network features gradually in the spatial form.The differences in the endowments of innovation factors determine the region innovation ability,which in turn determines its influence and advantages in an increasingly complex innovation linkages network,and then will affect its economic growth.Therefore,it's of greatly practical significance and academic value to study the spatial and temporal features of inter-provincial innovation linkage network in China and its impact on economic growth.The study helps to clarify the spatial and temporal pattern of China's inter-provincial innovation linkage degree and innovation ability,and also reveal the spatial and temporal pattern of inter-provincial innovation networks and its influence on economic growth,as well as provide reasonable and effective regional economic development policy in order to strengthen inter-provincial linkage and realize the innovation driven economy development.Therefore,this study has positive practical significance and academic value.From the perspective of social network analysis,basing on the effect of the innovation on economic growth,this article summarizes the domestic and foreign research status of the effect of innovation linkages network characteristics on economic growth,and its inadequacies lies in ignoring the factors of interaction and complexity relationship of regional innovation in space on economic growth.In terms of theoretical analysis,the paper sort the theory of innovative economic and spatial interaction and social network,proposes related theoretical hypotheses about the influence of inter-provincial innovation linkages network characteristics on economic growth.In terms of quantitative analysis,the paper constructs a complete set of inter-provincial innovation capability evaluation index system and measures its level of innovation capability,and then measures the strength of inter-provincial innovation linkage by using the gravity model which takes into account the factors of inter-provincial innovation capacity and geographical distance.Then,the paper use the social network analysis method to quantitatively analyze the characteristics of the inter-provincial innovation linkages network,such as point strength and structure hole,construct the panel data of 30 samples provinces in China from 2000 to 2015.At last,the paper empirically study the impact of its network characteristics on economic growth by using OLS and systematic GMM estimation methods,which in order to ensure the validity of the research results.According to the mentioned research frame,the study has the following discoveries:(1)The level of provincial innovation capacity has shown a stepwise increase from east to west from the year of 2000 to 2015,and the province's innovation capacity has been greatly improved from 2008 to 2015.The results of localGetis-OrdG _i~*indices show that the spatial agglomeration features of China's provincial innovation capacity are relatively obvious,the hotspots mainly comprise three provinces in the Yangtze River Delta and its neighboring provinces and cities.(2)The degree of overall inter-provincial innovation linkage is still dominated by very weak and weak levels,showing a gradual increase from west to east in the space,appears obvious attenuation effectinthedistancespace,andBeijing-Tianjin-Shandong-Hebeiand Shanghai-Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Anhui is the two core regions of the innovation linkage strength.(3)The level of point strength appears an upward trend with the features of gradual step-decreasing from east to west in the space,and the point strength level of Beijing-Tianjin-Shandong-Hebei and Shanghai-Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Anhui and its connection band are the highest regions.The distribution of kernel density of point strength shows right-biased distribution,its inter-provincial gap is continuously shrinking.Its spatial distribution has a strong positive correlation,it exist obviously effect of“weak and weak agglomeration"and“strong strong agglomeration”.(4)The level of structural holes remains relatively stable,appear increasing from east to west in the space,and the level of structural hole in the central and western provinces is much higher than the eastern region.The distribution of kernel density of structural holes showed a left-lateral distribution,its inter-provincial gap is continuously shrinking.Its spatial distribution exist obviously similar clusters features,the effect of“weak and weak agglomeration"and“strong strong agglomeration”are evenly matched.(5)In the research sample of the paper,there is a significant positive correlation between network point strength and structural holes and economic growth.Compared to the year of2000-2007,the point strength and structural holes of 2008-2015 have more positive and significant impact on economic growth.The high level of point strength has a positive and significant effect on economic growth,and it is stronger than the low level of point strength.The high level of structural holes has a positive and significant effect on economic growth,and it is stronger than the lack of structural holes.At the same time,The robustness test results of panel threshold regression model and panel quantile regression model are still support the above results.Finally,the paper put forward some policy recommendations which include improving provincial innovation capability,perfecting the structure of innovation linkages network and promoting innovation-driven economic growth.
