In 2013,‘Yu'E Bao',an online monetary fund,triggered a collision between the fields of Finance and the Internet.At the same time,commercial banks in China are under the shadow of market-oriented interest rate reform and financial disintermediation.Traditional business models and profits are affected.Therefore,many commercial banks are actively developing strategic transformation including retail credit.Retail credit is the cross field of competition between commercial banks and Internet companies and both sides upgrade the Internet technology to facilitating retail loan business.The trend of using Internet technology to develop retail loan is on the rise.Under this circumstance,this paper takes the long tail theory,Metcalfe's law,the enterprise strategy theory as theoretical guidance.Based on the research of the academic research results,this paper argues that the Internet technology will impact on the retail credit of commercial banks.In the next part of theoretical research of retail loan development,after reading years of PBC policy documents,this paper concludes that China encourages banking institutions to develop retail credit,encourages the retail credit to product innovation and support the use of the Internet technology.Then the paper discusses the driving factors of retail credit development,and elaborates on the Internet technology influence on retail credit and concludes that from long-term perspective financial institutions need to cooperate with Internet companies to develop retail credit.Cooperation of both sides is based on the fully consensus after competition.Then this paper discusses the developing paths of commercial banks with the practical case—S Bank.In this paper,by analyzing the internal and external environment and the strategic choice of S Bank,S Bank is in the phase of transforming to the universal and versatile bank and retail credit is the key part of this transformation.The Internet technology is further applied strategically on the retail credit product R&D,the method of marketing and the back-stage support.This paper suggests that S Bank continues to deepen the use of Fintech,make good use of Internet way to develop and expansion in the field and explore to build the conglomerate to collaboratively develop retail credit.This paper combines the actual case with academic research and explores the subject of the retail credit development with the use of Internet technology.This paper provides a reference for the future of the commercial banks' retail credit and therefore helps commercial banks to increase competitiveness for retail credit development.
