Regional coordinated development and regional economic development has always been a key research issue in China.The gap between the eastern and western regions,and the urban-rural dual structure have always impeded the overall economic development in China.New urbanization is an important policy for the country to vigorously promote urban-rural integration and promote regional economic growth.The development of new urbanization cannot be separated from the improvement of industrial structure,but there is a clear role of promotion between industrial clusters and new urbanization.With the implementation of the national“Belt and Road”strategy,the overall environment in the western region has undergone tremendous changes.Can this market environment and policy advantages effectively promote the interaction between the two? How does the interaction mechanism work between the two?These issues are the focus of this article.This article first uses the theory of circle structure to analyze the interaction mechanism between industrial clusters and new urbanization,and explains that the“Belt and Road”initiative has actively promoted the interaction between the two,and then compared the gap between the western region and the eastern region and The situation of the new urbanization and industrial clusters in the provinces of the western region,after clarifying the urban planning,industrial planning,and respective progress of the provinces and cities in the western region under the“Belt and Road”initiative,a detailed analysis of the overall situation in the western region was carried out.Through the establishment of a new urbanization index system to collect the main business income and national data of industrial enterprises above designated size in the equipment manufacturing industry,empirical analysis was conducted on the panel data of 11 provinces in western China from 2005 to 2016,verifying the long-term stable interaction and existence of the two.Finally,the opportunities and challenges brought by the “ Belt and Road ” initiative to the western region were discussed,and the policy recommendations for the current problems in the western region were proposed.
