Farmers' Participation Behavior On Rural Bed And Breakfast Development And The Influencing Factors

According to the "China Inns and Bed and Breakfast(B&Bs)Industry Development Research Report in 2016-2017",the total number of inn houses in mainland China had reached 53,852 by 2016;of which,the number of Fujian Province was 4,000-5,000,ranking the top of the country,and the number of Wuyishan ranked the forefront of Fujian Province with sustainable and rapid growth.Development of rural homestays has become a new economic growth point for rural economy now.The development of B&Bs industry in countryside can retain the village's cultural features,activate human resources,and help with the development of cultural and creative industries;could promote eco-tourism,supply job opportunities,and attract farmers to return home to start businesses and then change the income structure of farmers;and also can promote the development of local industries and assist with targeted poverty alleviation to promote rural rejuvenation and realize the construction of beautiful countryside,which making comprehensive benefits by radiation and driving effects on other industries.It was studied that the effective participation of rural households played an important role in the sustainable development of rural tourism.Whether the continuous development of rural tourism could realize depends on the willingness and participation level of local farmers to some extent.As an important part of the rural tourism industry,the development of the rural housing industry also needs the participation of farmers.Therefore,it is necessary to systematically analyze the farmers' willingness to participate in the development of the rural hotels and the corresponding influencing factors,and understand the internal motivation and external factors on farmers' participation in development activities by field survey,in order to promote famers participation behavior in the development of bed and breakfast more efficiently,and put forward reasonable suggestions for the healthy and sustainable development of the countryside's housing industry.Based on the above background,with Wuyishan region as the sample,field questionnaire survey on farmers' participation behavior in rural housing development were conducted,and the factors that affecting farmers' participation and the influencing mechanism were analyzed by Logit regression model,to discuss the key variables affecting farmers'participation,and to analyze the significance and relevance of the impact factors.The results showed that three variables,the farmers' cognition to rural homestay development,the development degree of rural tourism,and the support degree of local government,had very significant impact on the farmers' participation in the development of the homestay.The households;education level,the number of idle rooms,and the positive influences in stimulated participation and the local transportation conditions significantly affected the participation of households in B&B development.The gender,age,annual net income of the family,labor force,local development of the housing industry had no significant impact on the farmers' participation in the development of the homestay.According to the results,we proposed several suggestions from the policy prospective:first,vigorously develop rural tourism that focuses on the hotel industry;second,strengthen the construction of infrastructure and supporting facilities;third,enhance publicity and promotion;fourth,increase and improve the policy support for the country's housing industry with various types;fifth,start brands to improve efficiency of the hotel industry.
