Barriers Faced By Small&Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs) In Accessing To Credits In Lao PDR

Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs)play a very significant role in enhancing economic development in most of the regions throughout the world,especially,in Lao PDR.The objectives of this research were to study the barriers faced by Small&Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs)in Accessing to Credits,the government's policy trace/evaluation supporting SME entrepreneurs financing and the Banks' and Micro Financial Institutions'(MFIs)opinions on loans providing to SME entrepreneurs in Lao PDR.In terms of their quest to access to credits from Banks and MFIs to undertake a various activities for general business operations and/or carrying out expansion project in order to fulfilling the objectives of employment creation,helping to poverty eradication/reduction and leading the country to the civilization.The scope of this study was limited to SME entrepreneurs,banks and MFIs in Vientiane Capital,Lao PDR.In terms of population and sample,the qualitative and quantitative approaches were adopted for SME entrepreneurs and Banks and MFIs.The questionnaires were circulated to 132 SME operators who were as the sampling groups of Micro,Small and Medium-Sized owners and 12 Banks' and MFIs' top managers in Vientiane Capital,Lao PDR using the technique of convenience sampling.The mixed methodology used was compared between qualitative and quantitative research of both two parties,SME demanders/owners as well as Banks and MFIs suppliers,which were the key involvement and supplementing of this academic study in order to analyze all the obstacles or problems of SMEs in accessing to credits in accordance with Banks' and MFIs' opinions concerning loans providing to SMEs.The data collection was analyzed by using IBM Statistical Packaged for the Social Sciences(SPSS)and Microsoft Excel as the main technique tolls for this study through the means of relative Null and Alternative Hypothesis,Frequencies,Percentages,Cumulative,Tables,Diagram and Figures.
