The Mechanism And Dilemma Of The Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor

In the development of economic globalization,the speed of capital flows in the global market faster and faster,the world market competition becomes increasingly fierce.In order to gain a place in the global market competition,Developing countries such as China,Bangladesh,India and Myanmar have expressed their desire to strengthen economic cooperation with their neighbors.In this context,the Chinese Yunnan academic community first proposed the related concepts of Bangladesh-China-Burmese cooperation in the late 1990s,and received positive responses from India,Bangladesh,and Myanmar.This is the original concept of economic cooperation in the region.As the maturity of market development continues to increase and the common interests between countries have been further strengthened,the concept of regional economic cooperation has been officially renamed the Bangladesh,India,and China Economic Corridor(BCIM Economic Corridor).In 2015,China issued the "Development of the Vision and Action to Promote the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road"initiative.The BCIM Economic Corridor has become an important component of the"Belt and Road" six international economic corridors.This brings new historical opportunities to the cooperation and development of the four countries of Bangladesh,China,Myanmar,and India.The primary goal of the BCIM Economic Corridor is to improve the infrastructure in the region and strengthen the economic links within the region;to strengthen the trade and investment facilitation,promote the rational division of labor and cooperation in the industrial structure,promote the free flow of production factors,and finally optimize the allocation of resources.Secondly,strengthen the political trust of the governments of the four countries of the BICM,provide political support for the cooperation and development of the region,and jointly cope with the competitive pressure and economic impact brought about by globalization;Finally,the development of the BICM Economic Corridor will encounter many obstacles,including historical grudges,territorial issues,cultural conflicts,security risks,economic frictions,and complex geopolitical relations.Therefore,in order to remove various obstacles in the process of constructing an economic corridor,we not only analyze the various problems encountered in the development of the economic corridor,but also put forward measures to deal with the dilemma of the BICM Economic Corridor.Based on the actual situation of the development of the BICM Economic Corridor,this article analyzes the development mechanism and problems of the economic corridor and divides it into the following sections:The first part briefly introduces the research background and significance of the study of the BICM Economic Corridor It reviews the existing studies at home and abroad.The second part introduces the development situation of the BICM Economic Corridor,including:cooperation in infrastructure,energy cooperation,cooperation against terrorism and combating transnational crime cooperation.The third part introduces the main elements of the formation of the mechanism of the BICM Economic Corridor,mainly including the internal elements and the external elements.Under these two elements,the mechanism of the economic corridor is formed.The fourth part analyzes the BICM Economic Corridor development process constrained by political,economic,cultural,security,different aspects of history and response measures.The fifth part mainly analyzes further deepening the economic corridor in the "Belt and Road".
