In the 1930 s,the elder generation of the Kusmuljadi family migrated to Indonesia.Starting from small business,the Kusmuljadi family gradually expanded their business realm to timber sales & processing,shipping mining,becoming a leading enterprise group among ethnic Chinese enterprise groupsAs the political environment of Indonesia stabilized,the economic policies & the international economic environment changed,the Kusmuljadi family gradually abandoned their timber processing industry & shifted to manufacturing industries,like plastic products and rope-making industry.Due to decades of anti-Chinese sentiment in Indonesia,the Kusmuljadi family was faced with many problems among which the major one,also the problems faced with many ethnic Chinese enterprises,was the serious mismatch between the technology capacity of the enterprises & the transformation strategy.The key to the sustainable development of the Kusmuljadi family's enterprises lies in drawing up a suitable transformation strategy based on the existing sales channels,successor cultivation plan,and especially the status quo of the enterprise' technology capability.Based on the analysis of external factors,like Indonesia's current political & economic environment,policy orientation,industry structure & industry competition & internal factors,like successor cultivation & the enterprise's existing technology capacity,the thesis reached the most suitable transformation strategy & solutions for the Kusmuljadi enterprises' transformation in the Indonesia's economic & political environment.The author also uses strategic analysis tools such as Boston Matrix,Five Force Models & Strategic Management,to analyze the development environment & the problems faced with the Kusmuljadi enterprises.It is found that there are many problems in the process of non-related diversification strategic transformation of Kusmuljadi family group,such as focusing on short-term interests,lacking of company-level strategy,insufficient market development,Unshareable sales channels,weak enterprise's technology capacity & weak core competencies.Based on the analysis of the above problems,this thesis explores the solutions to the problems & conducts an in-depth discussion of the impact of the insufficient technology capacity & weak core competitiveness of enterprises on the strategic transformation of enterprises.Try to sum up the transformation strategy and countermeasure of the most suitable economic and political environment in Indonesia and the current situation of kusmuljadi Group.
