As interdisciplinary knowledge work,the R&D of product is getting more and more complicated,and the market related research suggests that the time to market is particularly important for product development.Consequently,the traditional segmentation model based on productive task is no longer suitable under current management context.The paper puts the product development team as the background to study the division and coordination during team work.We refined the concept of knowledge task as well as complexity and we found out that the solution for cognitive difference within team members was the key for knowledge consistency.In order to solve this problem,studying among members is fundamental to reduce or remove cognitive difference.Therefore,drawing on empirical learning and collaborative learning from team learning theory,we describe this two learning styles as different nature of intellectual growth from the micro perspective of dynamic growth of knowledge,then we construct the coordination model under knowledge task context to realize the quantitative analysis of the coordination process.And on the basis of the knowledge coordination model,the delay cost is introduced to discuss the coordination model between product knowledge application and fast launching.Our finding from the knowledge coordination model shows:(1)the complexity of knowledge task is a decisive factor for team coordination,and is inversely related to the change rate of marginal cost of empirical learning and the marginal cost of knowledge growth of collaborative learning;(2)team members need to strengthen the effort of empirical learning and reduce the unit time of collaborative learning to promote team coordination.The model,to some extent,revealed the discipline of knowledge learning process in the product R&D team,and puts forward some management suggestions.Our finding from the coordination model between product knowledge application and fast launching shows:(1)when the knowledge level difference between team members is equal,the same with knowledge coordination model,R&D team will still need collaborative learning time control in a certain range in the coordination model between product knowledge application and fast launching;(2)while in general case,with the increase of the unit value of the product,the change of the optimal knowledge level the same with knowledge level of each member,both of them show growth;(3)in order to deal with the inconvenience of delay cost,R&D team need to give priority to enhance the knowledge level of low hierarchy members.This research will expand the classical division of labor coordination theory to the knowledge management level,and a certain reference value to build a knowledge-based team for enterprises.
