Service-oriented manufacturing characterized by customer participation helps manufacturing companies to climb the high level of the value chain. However,in the specific implementation process, there are issues such as increasing the cost of providing product service solutions and prolonging the waiting period of customers. In order to enable the service-oriented manufacturing system to inherit the cost advantage of the delaying production system, and to further reflect the process of customer value creation, the service-oriented manufacturing system needs to be re-examined.Therefore,this study applied the postponement strategy to the service-oriented manufacturing system and focused on the decision-making of the order quantity, service level, and customer involvement,in order to solve the above problems.By combing relevant literature, the framework of service-oriented manufacturing system based on postponement strategy is constructed, the advantages of the system were explained, and the key elements of system decision-making were clarified;secondly, the service-oriented manufacturing system under the monopoly situation were studied, and a decision-making scheme were constructed.A multi-objective planning model that aims to provide cost minimization and maximization of customer value creation, and analyzed the influence of decision variables on decision plans;thereafter,in order to expand the application scope of decision models, customers' random needs and out-of-stocks are taken into account to generate customer value. In the case of a loss of non-monopoly manufacturing system, the optimal decision-making scheme of the multi-objective planning model was re-solved and compared with the original model decision-making scheme. Finally, using the case to verify the practicality and practical significance of the decision-making scheme of service-oriented manufacturing system based on postponement strategy.Based on the questions raised in this study, relevant theoretical analysis and model research were conducted and the following conclusions were drawn:(1)In the case of a monopolistic market, the order quantity of the service-oriented manufacturing system's decision-making scheme based on the postponement strategy depends on the market demand, inventory cost and stock-out cost. The service level and customer participation degree depend on the manager's preference and the generalized production cost and customization cost, the service cost factor, product value creation factor, and service value creation factor;and the customized service system always needs to maintain sufficient order quantity.(2)In the case of non-monopolistic markets, the decision-making scheme of service-oriented manufacturing systems based on postponement strategy depends on managers' preference, and the customized service system should always provide customers with the highest level of service;under the condition that the product value creation factor, service value creation factor, and the out-of-stock value loss factor is determined, the higher the proportion of customer value creation, the higher per stock-out cost and the higher the order quantity within the order cycle.(3)The decision-making model analysis of service-oriented manufacturing system based on postponement strategy can help guide the transformation of the service-oriented manufacturing companies. It can increase customer value while controlling the cost of providing solutions, and thus brings a rich return for service-oriented manufacturing enterprises. It provides a theoretical basis for the transformation of service-oriented manufacturing companies.
