Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC)has merits of high efficiency, clean, and low operating temperature, and it has been considered as an important area of new energy in the future. In order to investigate the static performance of PEMFC at the condition of air replaced by oxygen in the cathode, reveal the mechanisms that cause this difference. This thesis established the mathematical model of PEMFC carried out simulation and experimental research, optimized operation parameters and analyzed the net power income. This research established the mathematical model on the condition of inletting air and oxygen respectively based on the empirical model.Employing the Matlab/Simulink platform simulated the output static performance of PEMFC at the condition of air replaced by oxygen in the cathode as well as analyzed the inner mechanisms which caused the difference.A selfproduced PEMFC with a reaction area of 5.29cm2 was as the experimental object to verify the simulation model, the stoichiometric and operation temperature have been optimized. The results show that,(1)Mathematical models established coincide perfectly with experimental results, and this model can be used to predict the static output performance of PEMFC under two kinds of oxidants.(2)The cathode oxidant air replaced by oxygen significantly enhance the power of the PEMFC,and at the usual operation voltage range 0.6V~0.8V,the output power can be doubled. Moreover,in this range, the amplification of the power increases with the voltage.(3)The reason for the significant increase in the output performance of PEMFC on the condition of air replaced by oxygen in the cathode is that the increase of oxygen concentration causes Nernst voltage increase, the activation losses decreases, and no obvious concentration loss at the usual operation voltage range 0.6V~0.8V.(4)The optimized operation parameters are 50?,and stoichiometric ratio of hydrogen and oxygen are 1.0 and 2.0 respectively.(5)Under the optimized operation parameters, air replaced by oxygen as oxidant for PEMFC has a considerable net power income, and the lower the stoichiometric ratio of oxygen is,the higher the voltage and the greater the net power obtain. It can reach 1.4 times when the oxygen stoichiometric is 2.0 and the voltage is 0.75 V.Experimental research and analysis of net power income verified the output static performance of PEMFC can be obviously increased, and significant net power income can be obtained by using oxygen as substitute of air at the optimized operation parameters. This research can provide a beneficial reference for improving the output performance of PEMFC.Therefore,it has important meaning and optimistic application prospect.
