Despite being a small country,Spanish environmental protection policy is slow but firmly progressing and it has a big influence in the world.As a member of the European Union and a member country of various organizations,Spain cooperates in different ways in international environmental policy and believes strongly in the importance of fighting to protect the environment and to combat climate change through its participation in different agreements,conventions and programs.This paper mainly studies the development and characteristics of environmental protection politics and cooperation in Spain through a comparative and descriptive research method.Firstly,in order to understand the causes and circumstances,this paper mainly focuses on environmental issues and environmental politics in Spain,including,among others,water resources,coastal and marine ecosystems,biodiversity and air quality protection,as well as waste management,environmental education and climate change.Secondly,this paper mainly studies the content,contribution and importance of Spain' s international cooperation in environmental protection.Thirdly,following the cooperation between Spain and other countries,this paper mainly describes the cooperation and situation of environmental protection between Spain and China.Fourthly,this paper assesses the characteristics of Spain' s environmental protection politics,mainly the development of renewable energy,cooperation with the EU,cooperation with Latin American countries,and cooperation on climate change.Finally,in this paper we consider the challenges and opportunities that Spain will have in the future in the field of environmental cooperation.
