In real life,"Small Rooms for acoustic"(such as the general living room, classroom, conference room, chamber music odeum, etc.)are one of the most accessible listening environment, but the acoustics of these places are often not paid attention to.This kind of Small Rooms can not be applied to analyze and study for reverberation field. Therefore,it is not easy to get a Small Room with a favourable acoustic environment. One of the directions of judge whether the acoustic environment is good is whether there is any obvious phenomenon of sound coloration. This topic mainly studies the influence of different degrees of sound coloration on the acoustic environment of "Small Rooms".The acoustic data(impulse response)of several real "Small Rooms" are sampled and the get the DL(the standard deviation of the spectrum level of the impulse response). The resulting impulse response data are evaluated by organizing the professional staff as the judges,to analyze whether the DL value will be identified by the judges to distinguish the phenomenon of sound coloration. It is concluded that sound coloration is not easy to be detected when the value of DL is less than 1.6;when the value of DL is more than 2.0,the sound coloration can be noticeable. The results can be used as a guide for acoustic designers and on-site architectural acoustics builders.By calculating the DL value, the degree of sound coloration is controlled and a sound acoustic environment is created.
