Self-discrepancy is a cognitive process by which individual perceives the difference s between the ideal self,the real self,and the ought self.Carl Rogers-a famous psych ologist,He thinks that the differences between the real self and the ideal self is closely related to the level of mental health.In general,people who can understand self-conce pt properly usually take actions to resolve their own psychological problems appropriate ly.On the contrary,psychological self-awareness conflicts are very likely to occur.Hardin ess is a positive personality resource which can help individuals resist stress and protec t their physical and mental health.State Anxiety and Trait Anxiety are the two types o f anxieties.State Anxiety refers to the response that individual cannot meet the require ments of the objective environment;Trait Anxiety is a motivation or acquired behavior which is the individual's excessive reaction to the objective environment.In order to ex plore the relationship between Ideal-Reality self-discrepancy,Hardiness,and State-Trait a nxiety,this research applied to the ideal-realistic self-discrepancy scale,the Hardiness q uestionnaire,and the State-Trait anxiety questionnaire as measurement tools used in Yan cheng Vocational Institute of Industry Technology.The college issued 528questionnaires,removed 30 invalid questionnaires,obtained 470 valid questionnaires,and used SPSS s oftware to analyze the data.The research results were:1.There are significant differences between the ideal-real self-discrepancy of the vocational college students in terms of gender,grade,major,whether they are only child,and parental education.However,there is no significant difference in whether t single parent family or source of origin.2.There are significant differences between the hardiness of vocational college students in terms of gender,grade,major,single parent families,and father education level.However,there is no significant difference in whether only child family,single parent family,mother education level or source of origin.3.There is a significant marginal difference in state anxiety among single-parent families of vocational college students.There are significant gender differences in the trait anxiety of vocational college students.There are also significant differences in the trait anxiety of source of origin.There are no significant differences in the grades,majors,whether or not only child or different education levels of parents.4.There is a significant negative correlation between the ideal-real self-discrepancy and hardiness of vocational college students;there is a significant negative correlation between hardiness and state-trait anxiety;there is a significant positive correlation between the ideal-real self-discrepancy and state-trait anxiety.5.Hardiness as a mediating variables of state-trait anxiety and ideal-real self-discrepancy.Hardiness has a partial mediating role in state anxiety and ideal-real self-discrepancy;Hardiness has a complete mediating role in trait anxiety and ideal-reality self-discrepancy.
