Research On Sha Ye's New Dramas From The Perspective Of Shanghai Style Culture

Since the opening of Shanghai port in 1843,Shanghai has become one of the first open ports and started to trade with foreign countries.Later,plays,movies,music,and so on in Shanghai were all invaded and affected by Western culture,which has formed a specific and unique culture with Shanghai characteristics.The Shanghai-style drama plays an important role in the history of Chinese drama.Shanghai drama has followed the characteristics of the Shanghai-style culture,i.e.,pioneering,exploratory,inclusive,pluralistic,commercial,worldly and innovative,etc.and they are constantly developing and evolving under the wheels of the times.As one of the representative playwrights of the Shanghai-style drama,Mr.Sha Yexin's works not only cover a wide range of subjects but also have a high quality so that his works are very popular with citizens from Shanghai and even the whole country.Mr.Sha is not only a Shanghai-based writer,but a Hui of Muslim ethnic group as well.Sha's special ethnic characteristic made his Shanghai-style characteristics distinct.The Shanghai-style characteristics in his works are not simple Shanghai-based features,but rooted in his own Hui ethnic characteristics,his self sense of independence,self-consciousness,and the non-localized features of an urban immigrant.This dissertation focuses on the study of Sha Yexin's modern drama viewed from Shanghai-style culture,which is divided into four chapters.The part of introduction briefly introduces the reasons for selecting the topic,the current researches and the research ideas and methods.The first chapter mainly deals with Mr.Sha Yexin's drama creation and Shanghai-style culture,which attempts to make a discussion on three aspects,such as the overview of Shanghai-style culture,the characteristics of Shanghai-style drama and Sha's Shanghai-style plays.The second chapter majorly describes the Shanghai-style characteristics of Sha Yexin's dramas,which can be involved from four aspects,including the realistic factualism,the commercialized utilitarianism,the secularized character images and the diversified innovation and integration.This chapter analyzes the Shanghai-style characteristics in Sha's dramas based on the content of Sha Yexin's dramas.Chapter Three gives an introduction to the Shanghai-style characteristics in Mr.Sha's creative forms and techniques with focus on two points,which are respectively the use of Western drama systems and the use of absurd art forms.And starting from his theatrical techniques,it also discusses the characteristics of Chinese and Western fusion in Mr.Sha's works.The fourth chapter mainly explains the causes of the characteristics of Shanghai-style drama in the new era from such two aspects as the influence of regional culture and the influence of the national characteristics.The special geographical characteristics of Shanghai have had profound influence on Sha Yexin's creation,while Mr.Sha's own ethnic characteristics have contributed to his specific Shanghai-style cultural features.The final part is a conclusion that aims to summarize what has been mentioned.There is something implied in Sha Yexin's works,such as an exploration into the true meaning of life,a cry for the spirit of the times and an attack on social issues.Through this research,it can be more profoundly understood what is human nature,what is the nature of human beings,what is the hope and what is the true,the good and the beautiful,which is of great importance and research value.
