Shanghai is regarded as the starting point of modern China by the public,not only because it gave birth to the prominent Shanghai Style Culture at that time, but also it was the important town of the early Chinese films, during the period of between 1920 s and 1930 s,the Shanghai style culture and the early Chinese film has reached the peak at the same time, it is a coincidence, or a trend of history? This paper focus on the particular history of time and space from 1927 to 1937 year, and try to start from the macro perspective of culture, and discuss the historical origin and realistic background, as well as the intrinsic characteristic, where the Shanghai style culture, besides, makes it build with the early Chinese film logic relationship between each other, among which it can reflect the true appearance of the development of early Chinese film history and valuable experience.The introduction part of the thesis puts forward the topic and demonstrates research significance, value and feasibility, and introduces the research background and documentary information, and puts forward its own research methods and ideas. The first chapter try to talk about from the perspective of modernity the history background and cultural environment where the Shanghai style culture has formed, at the same time, this paper arguments and illustrates the logical relation of city and filmThe second chapter analyses the concept of the Shanghai style culture, from culture to Shanghai style culture, and then to the concept of humanistic spirit of Shanghai style, and discuss the influences that the Shanghai style culture spirit has on early Chinese film; The third chapter takes a look on early Chinese films from the aesthetic point of view of from 1927 to 1937, trying to find inner link, between the early Chinese film and the Shanghai style culture, such as the era theme, public interest, dream manufacturing, etc.The fourth chapter tries to find inner logic connection between Shanghai style culture and the early Chinese film from the perspective of business operation, and arguments and illustrates industry management, genre making, the strategies of star, newspaper publicity, and commercial shit, etc.The final conclusion part narrates realistic performance of the Shanghai style culture as the soul of a city spirit of Shanghai, and demonstrates the active lessons and meanings on the current film production.
