On The Relationship Between Western Painting And Photography

The fear of "True" by Baudelaire made the "Beauty" incomprehensible,and felt that photography should be the servant of painting.This is because photography has been invented for less than two hundred years since it was invented,and painting can be traced back tens of thousands of years.The author of this paper believes that photography and painting are not from such a simple subordination.This article uses the survey of the use of “camera obscura” by western painters after the Renaissance,and the investigation of the “camera obscura” optical principles to show that the “camera obscura” is an optical device.The importance of the history of Western painting,combined with the structural similarity between the “camera obscura” and the camera,clarifies the influence of optical images on the painting style before the invention of photography,and the thinking of painting after the invention of photography,and considers its own style.Clear and prove the relationship between painting and photography.This article is divided into three chapters to discuss this issue.In the first chapter,I discussed an important reason for the origin of Western painting.It is the recording of objective reality.It also studied the relationship between the beginning of painting and the shadow,and the relationship between shadow and light and shadow.In the second chapter,I focused on the Renaissance,focusing on the discussion that after the Renaissance began,humanistic thoughts began to take place and people began to depict “people-oriented” things.With the development of science,perspectives were discovered.Optics began to develop,and the darkroom was invented.Artists began to pursue more accurate depictions of what they saw and the style of painting began to change.These were related to the Renaissance optical equipment.In the third chapter,I discussed the influence of photography on the painting after its invention,both in terms of style and ideology,and also summarized some similarities between painting and photography.The relationship between photography and painting is not based on the invention of photography.Prior to the invention of photography,optical equipment had a greater influence on the style of painting.The invention of photography was only a chemical invention,because before the invention Optical equipment is already mature.The discussion of the relationship between the two can deepen our understanding of these two forms of art.From a long time ago we had the desire to quickly record the objective reality.Before the invention of photography,this desire led us to strive for more precise description Objective reality,while also promoting the occurrence of photography,painting images and photographic images,whether it is before or after the invention of photography,has always been mutual promotion and mutual development.
