New Vision--A Probe Into The Mechanism Of Western Painting Obscura Embedded In Vermeer’s Paintings

Throughout the development of western painting,the way of viewing painting is characterized by breaking and continuous development.Viewing,as a way for us to recognize the world,has presented its own cognitive changes to the natural world in the development of western painting history.Since 1420,the optical image viewing mechanism of black box was born in the West,and this effect gradually penetrated into the painting process.About 500 years before photography came into being,European painting entered a stage of viewing and cognitive mode of optical image.After the emergence of photography,how to obtain a relative independence of painting in front of photography has become a topic.After,western painting gradually produced after impressionism,impressionism,fauvism,etc.,the distance and the optical image conscious of genre painting,through using some of the type of the optical image painting tradition and to grope for,their own face painting from An Xiang Shi jump out the frame shape of optical image,makes every effort to get a new change.When watching paintings,we get visual cognition and thinking cognition of the world,and the change of painting techniques comes from the change of viewing choices.In other words,the exploration of the way of viewing is actually exploring the hidden perspective of the work itself.This paper focuses on the way Vermeer uses technology to regulate visual reality in his art and explores the impact this may have on the artist’s painting style and the audience’s understanding of painting.Vermeer was chosen for this study because he incorporates a camera model that depicts reality in his work.What this paper intends to express is that the optical image-style viewing cognitive mode and its corresponding painting form are not always existed,nor are they standard image features,but the result of subjective choice of human for their own viewing cognitive mode.The act of looking through a black box,even if it has no direct effect,can have a profound impact on artists and their practice,as it provides them with an opportunity to see the world in a new and different way.That is,installations that influence the way we see necessarily influence the style of art,because style reflects and influences the way we see.
