This paper takes "or",a polysemous word,as its research target.By the way of combining the ontology research on the modern Chinese "or" and the study of teaching Chinese as a foreign language as well as referring to the research achievements of predecessors and knowing about the latest developments in the academic circles, which will enrich and fulfill personal knowledge system, the latter thesis can be theoretically supported. The word "or" has two parts of speech on the adverb and the conjunction with balanced real and virtual property. The first chapter begins from its semantic, syntactic and fixed-formative aspects to analyze the using differences between the two parts of "or" and further to explain the semantic links of them. The basic meaning of the adverb "or" is continuous which can extend to the meaning of realization and modality.According to the semantic differences, there is also some slight distinction for the positions of "still" in the sentence due to its different meanings. The syntactic and semantic contentions can interact each other by placing it between the subject and the predicate or before the sentence-initial subject. The fixed formats rise in response to the combination of the semantics and syntax, such as:"although...or...","or+ noun +ba" etc.The conjunction "or" can connect words, phrases and sentences with just an alternative meaning, which indicates that only one of the two adjoining components will be selected and we should make sure that their semantics are at the same level and with a similar structure. The fixed format of the conjunction "or" which means choice can be "or...or...","no matter(whatever,nevertheless)...or...,all..." and so on.The second chapter is mainly by sorting out the errors in the HSK dynamic composition corpus,we classify the adverb and the conjunction of "or" in to four types of errors:addition error, misplace, disorder and omission, and then we will find out some large-amount,high-rate and representative errors according to the semantically and syntactically elaborate classification to design the questionnaire typically.Through the analyses of the HSK dynamic composition corpus and the questionnaire, the misplacing error was found to make up the largest proportion.Among them, the adverb "or" is easily mixed with "still","also","too"while the conjunction "or" is simply mingled with "either","and also","furthermore" with the particularly obvious mixtures existing in the fixed formats. The other three types of biased errors are relatively low in the proportion. The third chapter is mainly through the integration and statistics of the biased types, their occurrence law and causes can be found out and analyzed. The analysis showed the complexity of the polysemous word "or" itself was the biggest reason for those errors. With the language points inside owning two parts of speech with semantic diversity, there are also effects on the outside points from the adverb "or" and the phrase "still";the textbook is relatively brief in its interpretation of the word and is not distinguished from other confusing words.Based on the two kinds of reasons, the teaching suggestions are put forward in that the teachers should adopt different teaching methods with the diverse teaching materials while the compilers need to be more comprehensive and reasonable in the content arrangements.
