Doris Lessing is an excellent female writer, known as the evergreen tree in the literary arena, and won the Nobel prize in literature for her outstanding achievement in 2007.Lessing's creation is quite rich, her work style is changeable and the theme is diverse, and she also show special preference to autobiography writing. This paper take Lessing's two autobiographies-Under My Skin,Walking in the Shade, and the autobiographical text The Golden Note as the main research object. Then,I have read the autobiographical text of Lessing's interview and speech drafts, and stress Lessing's own identity construction in autobiography. The thesis will carry out from the following aspects:In the introduction part,I will firstly discuss the importance of Lessing's autobiography to grasp her identity and thoughts;secondly,on the basis of summarizing domestic and foreign research, and I will put forward the arguments and thinking of writing. In the chapter one,I mainly analyze Lessing's rebellion against the traditional role of family in the private sphere. The childhood memories of the colonies inspired Lessing's pursuit of justice;and the sex depression in the family led Lessing to pursue independence, self, and rebellious spirit. As a new epoch woman,Lessing refused to accept the training and shaping of female identity in the existing cultural tradition, especially the role of women in marriage and family. In the mother-daughter relationship,Lessing fled from the traditional mother role by resisting the oppression of her mother. In marriage,Lessing never regards marriage as the end of her life, but actively explores the ideal marriage and love.In the chapter two,I will mainly analyze Lessing's pursuit of social identity in the public sphere.Lessing throw herself into socialization, influenced by Marxism and sufism,Lessing no longer confined herself to a certain role. When the "feminist" label was attached to her,Lessing strongly denied that she has long gone beyond the radical feminist, for no matter the subject of her work-The Golden Note or the cognition of the relationship between the sexes. As to the autobiographical text,Lessing's "tearing label" behavior is to highlight the multidimensional and mobility of self social identity. In the chapter three,I will clarify that Lessing as an experimental writer, her rebellion against traditional writing and her writing experiments. The "setback" in life and the reading of literature make Lessing have a strong desire for sounding. In the game with the publishing company,Lessing's literary concept is clearer, and the writer's sense of responsibility has also been enhanced.Lessing has tried new techniques, she is a bold experimenter in her writing. The epilogue is a summary of the full text.Lessing's rebellion to the traditional family role in the private field, the pursuit of self social identity in the public field, and the experiment in writing, all build up a rebellious self.
