Research On The Suzhou School Playwright Qiu Yuan

Suzhou Drama School is one of the most famous theatre creation groups during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.Their legendary works have a civilian-oriented cultural spirit and staged artistic features,and occupy an important place in the history of Ming and Qing dramas.Qiu Yuan(??)is a talented adherent writer in Suzhou Drama School,not greedy for fame and fortune.He had both legendary works as well as poetry collections and paintings.The purpose of this paper is to make a comprehensive study of Qiu yuan,to make a detailed explanation of his family,life and friends,to analyze his works one by one,and to explore the characteristics of his dramatic creation in the process of comparing the legendary works of other writers in Qiu yuan and Suzhou Opera School.The main part of this article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces Qiu yuan's family background,friends and writings.Qiu Yue(??),an ancestor of Qiu Yuan in Northern Song Dynasty,was a famous general at that time and was created a feudal lord,called "Donghai Hou"(???).The Qiu family was famous for a time,and the talents in the family were numerous.After entering the Yuan Dynasty,the family gradually declined,and the generation of Qiu yuan had been living on the lower level of society.Although Qiu Yuan reclusively docked Mount Qiu,he continued to make friends and kept close contact with You Tong(??),Wu Weiye(???),Yin Shi'an(???),and Zhang Guisheng(???).Qiu Yuan had a high prestige in the art circles at that time.He had many disciples and often exchanged painting techniques with fellow artists.This chapter also gives an introduction to Qiu yuan's dramas,poems and writings,in order to make a review of the basic creation of Qiu yuan.The second chapter focuses on Qiu yuan's independent creation of the drama handed down to the world,making clear that the author of Hu Nang Dan(?????)and Dang Ren Bei(?????)is Qiu yuan.The analysis of Hu Nang Dan is conducted from the existing erroneous explorations,the evolutionary circumstances,and the causes of far-reaching influences.The vivid drama plots,pessimistic feelings,and tumultuous rhythm are the basic reasons why Shan Men(????)spread widely.Series of Popular Literature(???????)provides an important reference for understanding He Yibao's character.Qiu Yuan's ideology was fully demonstrated in Dang Ren Bei,including the strong sense of urgency and principle of feudal moral conduct.Dang Ren Bei also reflects Qiu Yuan's expectation of the Ming Dynasty and the eager attitude of the literati in the turbulent era to save the world.From the structure,it analyzes the plots of the two classic legends of Yu PaoEn(?????)and Huan Yuan Xiang(?????).They used double-line structure and were good at using misunderstandings and coincidences to promote the development of the story and enhance the comedy effect.Chen Ziyu(???)'s Jin Luan Pei(?????))had some references and amendments to Huan Yuan Xiang.The third chapter focuses on the creative features of Qiu Yuan.First of all,it explores Si Da Qing(?????)in which Qiu Yuan and Suzhou Drama School cooperate.Comparing the similarities and differences between the second book created by Qiu Yuan and the three books written by other writers,it summarizes the characteristics of Qiu Yuan,such as the excellent character of the characters in the drama,the fair marriage,the equal dialogue,the development of the plot with multiple coincidences,and the enhancement of the theatrical performance by comic action.Through the comparison of Dang Ren Bei and Chao Yang Feng(?????),Yu Pao En and Ren Zhong Long(?????),Huan Yuan Xiang and Ying Xiong Gai(?????),it is analyzed that Qiu Yuan's works are concerned with reality and persuade the evil to be good,which cut and enriched the overall creative style of the Suzhou Drama School,and infiltrated the feudal tradition in the works to influence the audience.Besides,Qiu Yuan's opera creation paid more attention to stage performance art,breaking the traditional pattern of rebirth and light,and promoting the traditional opera art from the desk to the scene.
