Light and color in our life has a very important position and painting,which is a special form of painting language,has been with the western painting history development process,each period of light and color play a role is not the same,by the artist see heavy degree different.In nineteenth Century,the Impressionist painters in the light of practice and combined with continuous development under the natural sciences,they walked out of the studio to the outdoor sketch,"the pursuit of true picture of nature,all direct painting under the sun and real life,the pursuit of instant impressions of light and color,abandoned the traditional gray tone since sixteenth Century",so the Impressionist Works bring a rich vitality to us,novel and specific visual feast.The light and color of Impressionism are more and more concerned with the use of painting art.In the history of the development of art,art of impressionist who constantly strive to seek and explore how to make the painting more scientific,how to make the rational science and art aesthetic perfect combination,in the art of hard and give us aesthetic pleasure.Therefore,in order to make the most important factor of light to play its role,make its application more reasonable,more scientific,artists in the creation of the process of trying all kinds of possibilities.This paper first introduces the background of Impressionism and concludes that Impressionism is an inevitable result.Then,the function of light and color in Impressionism was summarized,and the effects of light,environmental color and complementary color,and the use of strokes were all played their respective roles in the Impressionist painting.Then it analyzes the different effects of light and color in the works of different masters.Finally,a brief introduction to the new Impressionism to make the article more specific.I have been obsessed with the style of Impressionism from the undergraduate,undergraduate thesis is also about Impressionism,writing this paper is to hope to be able to more in-depth understanding of the impressionist painting experience.The light color theory of impressionism has a profound influence on the painters in the future,and they have obtained a lot of research results from the aspects of painting materials,drawing process and techniques.The light color technique of Impressionism changed people’s understanding of light and color in the past few centuries,but also influenced the performance of light and color.Impressionism opens up new horizons in the form of a painting,it adopts new techniques to convey people’s subjective spirit and objective visual richness,it expanded the field of people’s aesthetic personality,in the artist development has brought new possibilities.This study has improved my understanding of Impressionism,paving the way for future creation.
