Ceramic,precious cultural relics,has important historical,cultural and collection value.The polychrome pottery relics are more valuable because of its drawing or painting about beautiful charming scenery and the local customs of life.The prehistoric painted pottery was generated in the middle and late neolithic period,which is the crystallization of ancient people's wisdom.Its manufacture is simple and manual with low temperature and monotonous color.Prehistoric painted pottery is the carrier of Chinese history and culture,therefore,according to colorful pottery decorations,the living conditions and local customs of the prehistoric people can be well investigated,which possesses the archaeological value to some extent.Due to its own characteristics,ceramic relics are highly susceptible to the surrounding environment,and are often damaged by various diseases,resulting in shortening the life of cultural relics.The weathering fade is the most common type of disease for colored pottery relics.This disease causes that painted patterns will likely to fade and even disappear.There are many problems during its conservation,like one of which,how to make the pattern layer to reappear.This thesis aims at study of the weathering and discolored fade of prehistoric pottery.The reinforcement and reappearing solution for pottery-based relics designed by our laboratory was used as research object.By comparing the physical and chemical properties of the painted layer before and after the reinforcement and reappearing,the results show that this solution can not only show the color painting layer,but also improve the mechanical properties of the painted layer.Also,this solution will not cause any harm to the painted layer,so we obtained the following outcomes:1.Detailed investigation was carried out on prehistoric pottery objects,then the main diseases were detected,and the reasons of its disease were analyzed.The results showed that the main cause for the weathering of the painted pottery were salty damage,efflorescence,and soil rust pollution.The combined function makes the paint layer produces "air,interspace-particle and interval" interface,so diffuse reflection of light is enhanced and the color fades.2.The experimental samples were made according to the disease of ceramics.Pigments on the painted layers were analyzed and painted on the ceramic embryo for firing and then making simulated samples based on damaged pieces.3.Research the performance of the reinforcement and reappearing solution for pottery-based relics.First,exploring the main part(F2314+M372)of this solution.By detecting chromatic aberration,mechanical property,microscopic appearance and corrosion resistance,it is shown that the reinforcement and reappearing solution for pottery-based relics has good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.Secondly,studying the effect of two stabilizers on the overall performance,experiments demonstrate that the added two stabilizers improved aging resistance of this solution obviously and extend its lifetime.4.Test the performance of this solution by applying to the simulated sample.By application of this solution to the simulated samples,testing chromatic aberration,adhesion,hardness and SEM before and after reinforcement.It was found that the mechanical properties of the reinforced painted layers have been significantly improved,the difference in chromatic aberration is very small,it did not change the original characteristics.The reinforcement penetrated the pigment particles,filled the pores,eliminated the scattering of light,so the color reappears.5.The preliminary application to the partial weathering painted pottery fragments.It is found that the surface of the reinforced fragments is smooth,and the color becomes clear.This reinforcement and reappearing solution for pottery-based relics can be well used in practice and further popularized.
