A Study Of The Effects Of Chinese Film And Television Works On The Language Skills And Cultural Cognition Of Benin International Students

Since the reform and opening-up,talents from all over the world have been introduced to China.China's role in the world arena is even more pronounced as the country's economy continues to grow and its overall strength strengthens.In this context,foreigners must learn the local language and culture in order to develop in China.There are countless studies on foreigners coming to China,but there are few studies on Africans,especially on country like Benin.As one of the key actors of the Sino-Beninese friendship,Beninese students in China are a group that deserves to be studied,especially how they learn,integrate the society and understand Chinese culture.This paper explores the effect of the use of film and television works on the Chinese learning process and its cultural cognition.In the introduction part,the author expounds the purpose and significance of this thesis,as well as the research and achievements of previous researchers in this field.In order to have a more accurate understanding of the use of film and TV series by students from Benin,the author have used questionnaires,interviews and other methods to collect the basic data of this paper and analyze them.From it,the author has understood the way the students use film and television along with their habits and feelings of it.From the survey results analysis,the author understood the influence on language skills and combines it with theories to explain its causes and advantages.Films and television works,especially contribute to enrich the vocabulary and its colloquial meaning.Subsequently,the author talked about the advantages of film and television on learning habits,particularly advantages on establishing and cultivating self-learning habits.It is well known that language and culture are two inseparable concept,so the author studied the use of film and television works on learning Chinese traditional culture and the essence of Chinese culture but also analyzed the influence of film and television on students' cognition and intercultural communicative skills.All things in this world will always have advantages and disadvantages,so the author have also discussed the negative effects or side effects of the films and tv series of which the students of Benin need to pay attention to.I hope this paper will help the international students in China at large who use film and television to learn Mandarin and provide a new inspiration and method for their intercultural communication and understanding of the target language society.
