Intergroup prosocial behavior is the positive behavior that helper as a member of a group can benefit out-group member.Previous studies on intergroup prosocial behavior found that individuals respond fundamentally differently in their help tendency of ingroup relative and outgroup members, namely intergroup bias. Its main forms are have more help foringroup than outgroup members. Thus, whether helping represents intergroup bias toward ingroup and outgroups may be answered in different ways from the perspective of motivation or process.Social identity theory assumes that the motivation to help in-group member is conducive to enhance and maintain a positive sense of their social self. The need of belonging towards their own group may be satisfied. While exploring the prosocial intentions towards the out-group tended to be strategic motivations driving intergroup helping.A new two-dimensional conceptualization and process model of narcissism propose that the narcissist's overarching goal to maintain a grandiose self can be achieved by two separate social strategies:social admiration and self-defense.From the perspective of social admiration, prosocial behavior can also serve as a means of strategic self-regulation for maintaining a positive self, thus, maybe narcissist give more help to a out-group member. For these reasons, research aimed at examining the effects of narcissism on intergroup prosocial behavior and uncovering the mechanismsThe present study through two empirical studies to explore the influence of narcissism on intergroup prosocial behavior.Experiment 1 employed a 2(Narcissism activation:narcissism vs control)x2(Type of group:in-group vs out-group)mixed-model design, with type of group being the within-subject variable. Results showed that participants who activated narcissism donated more money about ingroup members than control participants. All participants donated less for outgroup members.Group identity play intermediary role between narcissism and the donation of ingroup.Experiment 2 takes allocation of dictator game as dependent variable to make a 2(Narcissism activation:narcissism vs control)x2(Type of group:in-group vs out-group)× 2(Situation:public vs private)mixed-model design, type of group and situation are the within-subject variable. As shown the result,in public, participants who activated narcissism allocated more resource to ingroup and outgroup members than control participants, and self-enhancement mediated the relationship between narcissism and intergroup prosocial behavior. In condition of private narcissistic individuals were less prosocial in a dictator game scenario than control participants, wheres there is no difference between them on ingroup allocation. In a word, how making prosocial actions public, versus private, moderates their association. In conclusion, based on the existing theoretical and empirical research, the present study reveals the relationship of narcissism and intergroup prosocial behavior, and situation played a very import role in moderation of prosocial action. It provide more prediction and preventive function towards ingroup and outgroup for narcissist. The socialization of the self and excellent interaction can be altered...
