“Nationality” and “ethnic group” have become the important aspects to express identity in Taiwan documentaries.This study analyzes the expression orientations of localized writing,individual consciousness expression and the touch of authoritarian politics,taboo issues of provincial citizenship and colonial experience in Taiwan documentaries.will be further committed to the tradition of sociological criticism school and analyzing the identity of Taiwan documentaries in the new century through interdisciplinary system.We chose the “new century” as our research time point because the production of documentaries in Taiwan surpassed its film counterpart in the new century,becoming an important channel for information dissemination and public opinions,representing the beginning of a new generation of new century.Under the background of globalization,people’s opinion toward their identity also becomes an important stage to clarify Taiwan’s contemporary identity.We conduct our study through the following aspects;In the first part,we mainly focus our attention on historic time and concentrate our efforts on the study of how historic memories,traumatic memories are narrated within the documentaries,by which we can learn that Taiwan’s documentaries’ attitude toward their identity.In the second part,we mainly focus our attention on “Identity” and concentrate our efforts on the study of the identical and symbolic meaning of those documentaries to Taiwan.In the third part,we mainly focus our attention on the theory of globalization and Post-colonialism and further examine Taiwan’s identity crisis in the context of globalization in the new century,including the mix and the fracture of nostalgia,memory and identity,accompanied by the local identity of cultural crisis and why Taiwan will finally be trapped in the identity of “no sense of place”.In the fourth part,we return to present days of the new century and discuss what have implied behind the back of the identity of the implicit knowledge and discourse.In the conclusion part of this article,we draw to the conclusion that when we inspect the “subject spirit” of Taiwan,based on the foundation of “taking documentaries as a tool for identity construction”,from Mainland’s angle,which is also accompanied by a mix of anxiety.If we develop our topic from the angle of space,character,time and localization,we can still understand the implied meaning about historical memory and ethnic issues in Taiwan’s special complex,and finally we can get the conclusion that documentaries in Taiwan in the new century are holding different attitude toward identity,which include suspicion,reconciliation and diversification.Under the background of globalization,documentaries in Taiwan are tend to be more positive in their contents and forms,but they still cannot get rid of the anxieties from the identity of Taiwan in its essence. |
