Forgiveness is a positive quality for individuals, making children resolve both internal and interpersonal conflicts through intervention successfully can help improve their relationship and mental health.Peer relations reflect the objective situation of children in a group, which is a kind of mutual and cooperative relationship established and developed in children's daily social intercourse. Many studies have confirmed the relation between peer relationship and individual forgiveness tendency. In addition, peer interactions will influence children's perceptions of themselves and their partners, which is not only children's subjective evaluation of communication activities, but will also influence the further behavioral tendency of children.Children who actively evaluate themselves and their peers tend to exhibit more pro-social behavior. The tendency of forgiveness which is the transition process of pro-social motivation can be closely related to individual perceptions of themselves and their partners, however little research about this has been done.In the view of this, this study takes students from Grades 3?6 as the research objects, due to the need of research,we firstly revised the forgiveness questionnaire for adolescents.Scales(including Perceived Competence Scale for Children,The Peer Belief Inventory,The revised forgiveness questionnaire for children)and peer nomination were used to analyse and discuss the characteristics and interrelations of peer relationship,self-perceived social competence, peer relief and forgiveness as well as the mediating effect of social self perception and peer belief. Then we try to establish a multiple mediation model with four variables and to compare the differences between the two specific mediation effects. The major results are as followed:1.The revised forgiveness questionnaire for children has a good reliability and validity.2.The level of self-perceived social competence, peer relief and forgiveness tendency is above medium on the whole.3.In terms of demographic variables, there was significant difference of gender on peer relationship,self-perceived social competence, peer relief. However results indicate that there was no significant difference of gender on interpersonal forgiveness.Variables in grade, the scores of peer relief,self-forgiveness and interpersonal forgiveness in different grades exist significant difference, while there was no significant grade difference on scores of peer relationship and self-perceived social competence. On self-forgiveness,the third grade students scored the highest, while the other grades don't exist significant difference.Variables in only-child or not,the only-child scored significantly higher than the non-only child in peer relief, but there was no significant difference on peer relationship,self-perceived social competence and two types of forgiveness between them.4.The main effect of peer relationship on different forgiveness tendencies are both significant, and the main as well as the mutual effects of self-perceived social competence and peer relief on interpersonal forgiveness are very significant, too. While the self-perceived social competence and peer relief have no interaction in self-forgiveness,and the main effect of them are not significant either.5.The correlation between peer relationship,self-perceived social competence, peer relief,self-forgiveness and interpersonal forgiveness are both positively related. And the association between self-perceived social competence and interpersonal forgiveness tendency as well as peer beliefs are both greater than that of self-forgiveness.6.The peer relief of children could not only exert on interpersonal forgiveness directly but also through self-perceived social competence and peer relief indirectly. Moreover, the mediating effect of peer beliefs is significantly greater than that of social self-perception,While the children's self-perceived social competence and peer relief have no mediating effect between peer relationship and self-forgiveness.The results of this study show that peer relationship can directly affect children's self-forgiveness tendency, while social self-perception and peer beliefs have no intermediary role in them, which suggests that future research should further explore the internal mechanism of peer relationship influencing self-forgiveness.In addition, social self-perception and peer belief play a part in the influence of peer relationship on interpersonal forgiveness, which suggests that guiding children to establish good peer relationship and form positive self-social perception and peer belief actively is of great significance for improving children's interpersonal forgiveness tendency.
