On The Performance Technique And Artistic Expression Of The Yangqin Song "Chuanjiang Rhyme"

Dulcimer is one of the most important stringed instrument in Chinese folk instruments.In recent years,our artists began to explore the arenas of brand new Dulcimer solo music pieces reflecting local cultures,using the unique way of performing."Rhyme of the Chuanjiang River" by Huang He and He Zesen is an example of such outstanding work focusing on Sichuan culture.This thesis is going to discuss the various aspects of this piece such as development background,musical formats,performing techniques and artistic presentation.Existing work has been on the analysis of each passages,this thesis will examine different aspects,such as detailed analysis of musical formats down to the section,categorise and analyse highlighted performing techniques along with the performance contents,as well as analyse the usage of breath,in order to help performers to better understand the emotional variations and overall depth of the various parts of this solo piece,and to perform it to a higher level.
