An Interpretation Of The Virtue Ethics In Mencius's Theory Of "Benevolent Governance"

The main task of this paper is to reinterpret the political philosophy of mencius,namely,the theory of benevolence,and to show the contemporary value of mencius' theory of benevolence.A virtue ethics is to specific concept of virtue as the basic concept of ethics to explain and defend behavior,policy,decision making,quality,the rules should be or not,is applied to political philosophy with virtue concept to evaluate a social political arrangements,the distribution of wealth is reasonable or not,should or not.The concept of virtue itself is intuitive and rational,and therefore justifies and justifies other things.To interpret mencius' political philosophy from the perspective of virtue ethics is to explain the rationality or necessity of the social political arrangement.Mencius "Tudor" "four terminal" and "four," the ethical thought system is essentially a system of virtue ethics,ethical foundation they constitute the virtues of mencius political ideas,and explain the basic concepts of mencius' political philosophy,one of the most fundamental and most basic concept of virtue ethics is the heart of compassion,the sufferings or the heart of love.Mencius said,"the king has the impatience of the heart of the government",that is,benevolent government.This is the most powerful basis for the interpretation of mencius' benevolence and ethics,because "the heart of intolerance"(and benevolence)is a concept of virtue.This paper intends to carry out the interpretation of virtue ethics of mencius benevolence from the following aspects:First of all,it elaborates on the basis of virtue ethics of mencius benevolence,which is to clarify what virtue ethics is,and emphasize the moral ethics of emotivism.To clarify the core idea of mencius' affective ethics ethics,namely,the heart of four ends;It is the ultimate criterion for the moral right of mencius to judge all things or actions,which is the ultimate standard of his political philosophy,namely compassion,intolerance or benevolence.Second,mencius said benevolent governance of virtue ethics interpretation can be divided into two aspects:the first aspect is its political virtue,namely the stand or fall of governing a country,a nation's political state is ideal,first of all depends on the people,depends on whether people conform to the specifications of Confucian virtue ethics,this aspect,mencius inherited the idea of "governing with Confucius.Mencius' Confucian virtues or virtues require not only the king(the ruler or the leader)and his officials,but also the ministers,the judges,and the general public.For the king's virtues,the first is to have a heart of intolerance,to be a kinsman,and to be an example.The requirement of the virtue of the minister and the scholar is to "go to the other side",and take the joy of the whole world,and dare to remonish.Although there is no requirement for the common people,the rulers should also let the people hold the "hengxin" through the "constant production",which is the core requirement of "hengxin".Third,mencius said benevolent governance of virtue ethics interpretation of the second aspect is the benevolent governance,says that an ideal society political arrangements must be in conformity with "benevolence",namely the virtues of "compassion" standards and requirements,that is to say,virtue requirements not only can regulate people's quality and behavior,can also be reflected in its social and political system arrangements and the distribution of social wealth.In particular,its benevolent policies include:the guiding ideology of the government is wang dao or hegemon;A virtuous man makes a wise man political;The people are light,the labor is made;The Production of the people,against annexation;A single man can be the enemy of war.Fourth,elaborated after virtue ethics interpretation of mencius said benevolent governance in contemporary value,especially to the leaders,of intellectuals and ordinary people(noticeable realistism party perseverance)of the value of virtue ethics,said its policy for building a harmonious society and the modem value of the human community.
