Silence,just like language,can also convey information and express emotions,and is also one of the most important means of communication for mankind.Silence is not only a sign of meaning in the form of verbal absence,but also a social phenomenon closely related to human beings.With the rise of the feminist movement and the spread of feminism,the study of science from gender became a new perspective.People find that: gender factors affect people's communicative behavior in a particular way.Gender differences not only exist in speech communication,but in silence.As the object of communication,the silent behavior of men and women has distinguishing characteristics.This article uses Russian classic literary works as a corpus.It aims to study the gender differences in silence in Russian communication and reveal the social,psychological and cultural factors behind the difference.This article included three parts: introduction,body,and conclusion.Introduction: summarize the research background of Silence,and explains the research significance,methods and innovation.The first chapter: to expound the inner relationship between language and silence,language and gender,silence and gender,and reveals the feasibility and necessity of the research on the gender difference of silence in communication.The second chapter: to explain the concept,content and function of gender stereotype theory,to provide the theoretical basis for the following research on the reasons for the differences of silence in communication.The third chapter: to analyze the concrete representation of the differences of silence in communication,and explores the influencing factors of the differences from the aspects of physiology,society and cognitionConclusion: summarize the research emphasis and research value of this paper.
