The awakening of dressing consciousness in human history,the emergence of screen art in the spatial structure,the psychological implications induced by the depiction of hidden space in painting,ways of expression in package art,and so on,all of which imply certain significant correlations between defilade and unveil.In the context of contemporary art,whether an artwork is constructive or deconstructive,either a painting or a video,realistic or expressionistic,it cannot be isolated from its hidden mystery.This essay analyses and discusses "defilade" and "unveil " as a creative method of contemporary painting.At first,taking Gerhard Richter's works as an example,the author illustrates the definition of "defilade" in as a language of painting and further explores the related " unveil " under the "defilade" and takes it as the premise.And then discusses the relationship between "defilade" and "unveil" externally and then internally,which is demonstrated in three aspects–firstly appearance is a kind of defilade,secondly defilade is a kind of appearance,thirdly the interchange of defilade and appearance.The final chapter is the core chapter of this essay,which takes the intention of defilade and the traditional Chinese aesthetics of implicitness as the premise to look at the "defilade" and "unveil" in contemporary painting,taking some representative contemporary artists as examples.This essay discusses the applications of visual partitions,presentation of the back,fuzzy presentation,the inversions of light and shadows and universality of exstence,thus leading to the conclusion through the discussions with examples.
