Phonetic Research Of Chongyang Dialect In Maping Town, Xunyang County

The village of Lanping is located in Maping Town,Xunyang County in Shaanxi Province,with a population of about 3000.The locals call their dialect "The Chongyang Dialect".After consulting Shen genealogy which accounts for the vast majority of the population that speak “The Chongyang Dialect”,I found that their ancestors immigrated to this place from the current city of Xianning,HuBei province in the end of Ming Dynasty.After a close survey,it was found that their dialect belongs to Gan Tong.In "The Chinese Language Atlas"(the second version,2012),the Gan language part shows that the feature of the Datong is that: "it contains six tones and the ancient level and falling tone are devided into the present Yinping Yangping,Yinqu and yangqu respectively according to the voiced and unvoiced ShengMu(initial consonant of a chinese syllable)in ancient time.The rising tone is all voiced sound and ShengMu,unvoiced ShengMu contained in Chinese characters now read the rising voice,and the Ru tone(the fourth tone in Chinese Pronunciation)in ancient time does not change regardless of yin and yang.The tail vowel of the stop consonant of Ru tone contained in the Chinese characters will fall off." The Chongyang dialect of Lanping village in Maping Town is basically in line with this characteristic.“Chinese Language Atlas" points out in the explanation of the feature of Gan Dialect that the Datong in Chongyang county has a voiced ShengMu and the author find that there are no voiced consonant in the local Chongyang dialect.It is found through investigation that although Chongyang dialect is surrounded by the Central Plains Mandarin and Jianghuai Mandarin,it has strong independence.People in Jianghuai Mandarin and Zhongyuan Mandarin do not understand Chongyang dialect.The main characteristics of Lanping village Chongyang still shares the features of the Jiangxi Datong Pian: it has six tones,independent Ru tone and the tail vowel of stop consonant of Ru tone will fall off and read “Open End Rhyme”,level and falling sound contained in the characters will be devided into Yin and Yang according to the differences of the voiced or the unvoiced ShengMu.tone of ancient voiced initials of most of Guiyang,once voiced and voiceless sound characters to sound.The rich performance and complexity of the resources of southern Shaanxi dialect have been widely recognized by the academic circle.In recent years,the research results of the Ankang dialect are renewing constantly.However,there are no experts or scholars involved in the study and research of Chongyang dialect.This paper attempts to record the phonetic status of Chongyang dialect in Lanping village on one hand and try to reveal the phonetic characteristics of Chongyang dialect in Lanping village on the one hand through detailed survey.
