In the second half of the 19 th century, the Norwegian nationalist composer Edvard Grieg(1843-1907)was a representative figure of the nationalist in music during the Romantic period. His artistic songs have emerged a lot of novelty and uniqueness in harmony techniques, and made a lot of breakthroughs on the basis of traditional harmony.Due to the genres of music and the need for performance, most of the harmony in his art songs is color, and this color harmony has had a huge impact on the Impressionist and the national music.Based on traditional harmony theories, this article selects Grieg's late work Op.67(1895-1898)as its main research object.Mid-term works Op.25(1876)and Op.33(1877)serve as auxiliary contrastive study objects, and use harmony techniques. For the content of the study,we will discuss three parts: "harmony materials","tonality methods",and "style techniques." Through analysis, research, generalization, and refinement,he thoroughly explored the key points, categories, and operational characteristics of the Harmony technique used by Grieg in his creation.Through the research on these aspects of harmonizing techniques, this paper summarizes the inheritance of the traditional harmony techniques and the exploration of national styles in Grieg Art's song production,in the hope of gaining inspiration from Chinese music creation.
