“Ballade-G minor”,as Edvard Grieg's only piano ballade,is his longest piano solo with the grandest structure, and it also has a distinct flavor of Norwegian folk music.Though “Ballade-G minor” is one of the most important piano works of Grieg,it is seldomly played in domestic and international piano converts. As there is little academic material of “Ballade-G minor” available in China,as well as it being one of the musicl pieces in my graduation concert,I have developed strong interest in studying Grieg's “Ballade-G minor”.Based on Grieg's piano music, this thesis intends to thoroughly explore the influence of Norwegian culture and folk music on Grieg's music style. This thesis is consisit of the following three parts: Norwegian history, culture and the features of its folk music at Grieg's time;Grieg's music style;as well as the performance interpretation of “Ballade-G minor op 24”.This research is an in-depth comprehensive interpretation of “Ballade-G minor”,which enables us to better grasp the performance style of Grieg's piano pieces, and to offer effective guidance to their performing practice. |
