The main research object of this paper is the kapok painting with Lingnan characteristics.Kapok is one of the most distinctive plants in Lingnan area,which has been endowed with special significance by the literati from the ancient to present.Since the Western Han Dynasty,because of its unique shape,it was accepted as a magic tree to tribute to the royal.Since the Ming Dynasty,due to the war and its unique rationality,so it was given the meaning of "hero tree”.Until the modern revolution,the center of politics moved from the north to the south.Lingnan area's Guangzhou has more become an important base of modern revolution,in this land,a lot of revolutionaries were born,Kapok painting on this land is more brilliant.Mr.Chen Shuren,one of the "three heroes of Lingnan",is one of the important representatives of Kapok painting.This article takes Chen Shuren's Kapok painting as an example to elaborate and analyze his extant Kapok painting and poetry creation in detail.Starting from his life experience,this paper analyzes the reasons why he was keen on the Kapok painting in his early years,the reason and significance of the change of painting style in his later years,as well as the profound influence of his Kapok painting on the contemporary Lingnan painting school.
