After the opium war,under the oppression of imperialist forces,the Qing Dynasty opened trade ports along the riverside and seaside areas,from then on China opened the door closed for thousands of years.Western civilization constantly collide with the China's cultural,political,economic and art.The Shanghai style painting in the Delta of the Lower Yangtze River and the Lingnan School of Painting in the Pearl River Bay Area emerged in the collision of this important historical node.Although the Shanghai style painting and the Lingnan School of painting are located in different regions,but the landscape paintings as a category of traditional Chinese paintings,have inextricably similarities.This article mainly focuses on the representative figures of the Shanghai style paintings of Pu Hua,Xugu,Wu Shixian and the Lingnan school of painting of Gao Jianfu,Chen Shuren,Guan Shanyue,exploring,analyzing,and discussing the different style of painting style and expression.Mainly carry out comparative analysis and research on the humanistic environment,painter groups,artistic origin,expression themes,pen and ink,modeling,composition layout,color,and art conception,in-depth exploration of the Shanghai style painting and the Lingnan school of painting the difference in their modeling forms,and explained his views on the differences between the two schools of landscape painting from different angles.The Shanghai style painting and the Lingnan School of Painting are first in pen and ink,the Shanghai style painting has developed a moist pen and ink feature because of its depiction of the Jiangnan landscape,while the Lingnan School of Painting has formed its ingenious strength due to the pursuit of realistic painting concepts.The harsh pen and ink lines;secondly,in terms of composition and modeling,the Shanghai style painting mostly inherited the formal characteristics of the traditional literati painting image art,forming an abstract artistic image and a three-distance method of framing and composition,while the Lingnan School of painting borrowed perspective,light and shade from the West in the painting concept,pursue visual authenticity,often express realistic scenery and composition forms;in color,both painting schools have turned the ink landscape painting that prevailed in the late Qing Dynasty to the color landscape painting.Among them,the Shanghai style painting follows the coloring methods of traditional landscape paintings,using three greens,cyanine,ocher as the color tone of the picture,while the Lingnan School of painting uses the complex color concepts of Western paintings to increase the diversity of traditional landscape paintings.And expressiveness,and strive for the true expression of nature.Through the tentative exploration and interpretation of both the Shanghai style painting and the Lingnan School of Landscape Painting,in order to arouse people of insight in this field to conduct further research.
