Discourse Analysis Of The Inauguration Speech Of The US President Based On Evaluation Theory

Supported by the evaluation theory,this paper studies Obama's first inaugural speech,and mainly makes a discourse analysis of Obama's inaugural speech.The evaluation theory mentioned in this paper is mainly the theoretical content of the framework of systemic functional linguistics,which breaks through the traditional interpersonal meaning and is a positive progress.On the basis of the study,the author finds that Obama's inaugural speech embodies the content of interpersonal meaning,so he makes use of the interpersonal function content of evaluation theory to carry on the theoretical framework to Obama's inaugural speech.In the process of writing the thesis,the author mainly adopts the combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,through which we can better understand the distribution characteristics and role of evaluation resources in Obama's inaugural address.The evaluation resources mentioned in this paper are not only attitude resources,but also intervention resources,but also grade resources.By consulting the relevant data and watching the recording of the inaugural speech,the author finds that attitude resources are widely used in the whole process of the inaugural speech,but in terms of the scope of distribution,it is not evenly distributed.As far as the whole inaugural address is concerned,the largest amount of judgment resources exists,and the number of appreciation resources is not a small number.Emotional resources are not many in terms of quantity.From the point of view of intervention resources,most of the compressed resources are used in extended resources.Obama prefers to use a stronger and more visible focus in his inaugural address,which is a feature of analyzing differential resources.In the process of writing,this paper uses the evaluation theory in the process of analyzing President Obama's inaugural speech,and makes quantitative statistics on the words or words of the evaluation theory used in the inaugural speech.This method of research is of great significance to the study of President Obama's inaugural address,and it has not yet been learned.The author provides the necessary reference significance.
